CNG stands for Compressed Natural Gas. It is a gaseous fuel made up of hydrocarbons, mainly methane.
Yes. CNG is lighter than air, so any leak rises and disperses. It has a high auto-ignition temperature of 540 °C against petrol’s 360 °C, and it will not burn if its concentration in air is below 5% or above 15%, even with a spark.
Yes. Switch between CNG and petrol whenever you want with a single switch. We recommend changing over while the vehicle is idling.
With a properly tuned kit, the vehicle’s power on CNG is the same as on petrol.
No. CNG doesn’t contaminate or dilute the engine oil, and with no lead content it avoids spark-plug fouling. Because it enters the engine as a gas, it doesn’t wash away lubricating oil, which reduces wear.
Very little. A CNG engine works like a petrol engine and needs the same regular care, such as air filter cleaning and spark plug replacement.
Cylinders are seamless, high-strength alloy steel, approved by PESO and BIS. Each is retested every 5 years at a PESO-approved station and has a life of 20 years. CNG is filled at 200–220 kg/cm².
The kit is simple and robust and doesn’t need frequent servicing. If pick-up or mileage drops, the vaporiser may need cleaning and new diaphragms.
Typically 60–75% on running cost. If petrol costs you ₹6 per km, CNG would cost about ₹1.75–₹2.25 per km. Use the calculator above for your own numbers.
